| For a 3-star hotel it was expensive. The location is a 10 minute taxi ride to downtown Hua Hin. At low tide the beach is fantastic. |

| We spent four nights at the beginning of February. We have stayed at or visited other more expensive resorts in Hua Hin. This was the absolute best. It is small and has an intimate feel. It is very quiet and the staff is friendly and helpful. They provide a free shuttle into town twice a day. Otherwise anytime you wish transportation into town they will call a taxi which appears within two minutes. If you take a taxi to or from town the cost will be 120 baht. A free computer internet is provided which I never saw in use except when I was using it. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with pools and old growth native plants including numerous orchids. This is in contrast to the more sterile appearance of other resorts in the area. The only drawback when we were there was the lack of a beach. Due to the winds and high water the beach never materialized. The staff said that it was this way sometimes. They did provide free transportation to a nearby beach about five times a day. Breakfast was not a big variety but was excellent and the menu changed daily. When we go back to Hua Hin this is where we will stay. |

| The staff were all incredibly helpful, polite and friendly and our room was perfect. We had a detached pavillion villa with an outdoor bath, small deck area and large TV & DVD player. The fruit basket and incense pack were nice welcome gifts and the fridge came in useful. |

| There are some wonderful reviews on here about Baan Talay Dao. I can't say I necessarily disagree with them, it's just that this hotel didn't really seem that great to me. The room itself was fine, if a bit basic, with a nice comfortable balcony. The shower had the only consistently hot water we experienced during a week in Thailand, but it was designed so water got all over the bathroom floor. There was a large glass window, covered with a curtain, looking from the bedroom area into the shower - a little strange. Oddly enough, the TV only received Thai language channels, even though most guests at the hotel were Westerners. On the bright side, the front desk had lots of DVDs for loan at no cost. |
